Sound the Retreat

Last week, I escaped the Big Smoke to go West.

I stayed with a few friends in Carna, County Galway, in a small house by the sea. The ocean lapped gently on the rocks, the sand threatened to go everywhere, the sun burned through the sky, and we wrote.

This is our third annual retreat, and our second time visiting Carna as part of the experience. It was by far my most successful escape from the city, resulting in a lot of writing, a lot of planning, and even a book read in my downtime. (I picked a small one that I’d bought in London.)

Take a look at these views!

I’m hoping I’ll get to go back to Carna in the near future. It’s a small slice of paradise, and being so isolated from everything with a few close friends did wonders for my work ethic. I even woke up yesterday morning super early and feeling like writing. (It was all vibes, I was also really tired and stayed in bed a bit longer.)

See you soon, Carna! If the sun allows it.
